Usually made of brick and covered in stucco, these houses, ranging from five stories all the way down to single-story cottages, date from the Victorian (1837–1901) and Edwardian era (1901–1910).
Down a winding road in the hills behind the small town of Berry in country NSW, is a picturesque house, called Indooroopilly. Originally built as a country escape by writer and poet Barbara Blackman (who was previously married to the artist Charles Blackman) and her then partner Marcel Veldhoven (Berry Getaways).

In 2009, American talent Katy Perry received a considerate Christmas gift from her then-boyfriend, actor Russel Brand. Rather than the usual bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates, Brand gave Perry a $3.25 (million) house in the Los Feliz area of LA. Quite a gift, even for a celebrity!
